Record Slack huddles on your Mac.

Keep a record of the spoken discussion

Slack messages capture what people type. A huddle often contains the explanation, trade-off, or agreement that never reaches the thread. echo99 records your microphone and the huddle audio playing on your Mac, then creates a local transcript with speaker labels. No bot joins the huddle and no Slack workspace integration is needed.

How to record a Slack huddle

1. Install echo99 and complete the initial setup, including audio permissions and transcription models.
2. Join the huddle on your Mac and tell the participants you will record. Use headphones to keep the other voices out of your microphone track.
3. Open echo99 in the menu bar and click Record.
4. Click Stop Recording when the huddle finishes. Open Recordings to read the transcript and play back the discussion.

Before relying on it for an important huddle, make a short test recording and listen to both sides. During a recording, echo99 also warns you in its menu-bar panel (“Mic looks silent” or “System audio looks silent”) if one side stays silent for about 90 seconds while the other has sound. If you only listen with no microphone in use, start recording manually.

Slack AI notes and your own local recording

Slack already offers AI huddle notes on paid plans. They include a transcript and action items in a canvas shared in the huddle thread. Slack currently excludes huddles with external people or guests from that feature.

Choose echo99 when you want audio and notes saved as files on your own Mac. It does not post to the thread or create a Slack canvas: you decide which notes to copy or share. To add AI notes locally, install a model and follow the meeting summaries guide.

What is saved, and what is not

• Audio and text. Keep separate microphone and system-audio WAV files, a timestamped transcript, and a Markdown summary when generated.
• Spoken conversation only. echo99 does not capture Slack messages, reactions, video, or shared screens. Paste useful links into your notes separately.
• Speaker labels come from audio. echo99 does not read Slack profile names. You can name voices and use local speaker recognition for familiar people.
• Your Mac stays in the huddle. Keep it awake. Other audio playing on the Mac may be recorded too; pause music and avoid notification sounds.

echo99 does not trigger Slack’s AI notes notification. Tell participants yourself and follow your workspace’s recording rules.
